• My name is Hugh Calloway, but you can call me Homer. I am originally from Detroit, Michigan, and I operate Homer’s Scuba and Snorkel Tours out of St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands. I have lived here for the past 26 years, and that’s where I do what I love best: scuba diving and snorkeling.

I am a certified PADI Scuba instructor. I’m also certified in CPR and first aid instructor. When I realized that diving was more than just a fun hobby for me, I followed my heart and founded Homer’s Scuba and Snorkel Tours.

I’ve taken more people diving and snorkeling in St. Thomas than any other person in the Virgin Islands. I have certified over 2,000 divers and have taken over 25,000 on beginner dives. For snorkeling, I wanted to offer something completely different and unique, so that snorkelers can do it all in one day: tour St. Thomas, stop at Coral World, snorkel in two great spots and enjoy food and live steel pan music that the Caribbean islands are well-known for.

Homer's Scuba And Snorkel Tours

At Homer’s Scuba and Snorkel Tours, they love what we do and it shows. Homer’s is located in Hull Bay Beach and is best known for its quality service for small groups. While most operators try to get as many divers and snorkelers as they can and rush everyone through, Homer’s Scuba and Snorkel Tours focuses on the intimate nature of smaller groups.

For their PADI Discover Scuba classes, they only take in a maximum of 8 students in a class with no more than 4 diving at once. Plus, Homer’s only runs this quaint diving adventure once a day, unlike other diving operators who tend to squeeze in numerous clients.

Homer’s Scuba and Snorkel Tours is the only scuba diving operator that is not associated with a resort. Plus, the company is situated on the northern shore of St. Thomas, a location ideal for fishing, snorkeling and scuba diving. Their equipment is well maintained, and their regulators are overhauled on a yearly basis.

Their staff includes some of the friendliest and most dedicated professionals. Nataliee, the shop manager, always welcomes you with a warm smile and beautiful blue eyes. Faye, a certified PADI Scuba instructor and Web A Rescue Diver, also has extensive experience as a snorkel guide.

Homer’s snorkel tours are unique. Unlike other tour operators, they take snorkelers on a van tour of the island and a “3-Beach Snorkel Adventure.” This allows snorkelers to explore the island’s most beautiful beaches and snorkel in breathtaking spots. Homer’s uses top-of-the-line scuba and snorkel gear with purge snorkels, all carefully sanitized after use. Plus, they offer “the personal touch”, so that when you leave, you will feel like they have made new friends. They say they want their customers to feel special. You will appreciate the wonderful island experience that only Homer’s Snorkel Tours can provide.

What makes Homer’s Scuba and Snorkel Tours a success is the dedication the instructors have for diving and snorkeling. The instructors, staff and Homer, especially, are always motivated when they see the excitement in their customer’s eyes, especially when they are just beginning. Homer says that is almost more rewarding than winning the lottery. Almost…
